Bucket elevator is a kind of continuous conveying machine which is used to vertically lift materials by a series of buckets evenly fixed on an endless traction member. It mainly consists of driving device, buckets, traction member (such as chain or belt), top and bottom drums (sprocket wheels), tensioning device and casing. During operation, the driving device transmits power to the head spindle through motor, reducer, etc., driving the chain or belt to run at a constant speed in a certain direction. The buckets continuously lift the materials that flow evenly into the feeding port at the tail of the elevator from the tail to the head, and then unload the materials from the discharging port at the head, thus completing the whole process of material lifting.
Bucket elevators are divided into three types: ring - chain type, plate - chain type and belt - type. The ring - chain bucket elevator is suitable for conveying powdery, granular, small - block and less - abrasive materials, and its lifting height is generally 4.5 - 30m. The plate - chain bucket elevator has a firm structure, light self - weight, large lifting capacity, and the material temperature is less than 250ºC, with a lifting height of 5 - 30m. The belt - type bucket elevator has a simple structure and less wear than the plate - chain type, but it cannot convey materials with high abrasiveness, and its lifting height is 4 - 30m.
